Meet July's volunteer of the month, Edith!
Edith, who used to work in education decided to help out at Woodside after visiting the cattery following the death of her poor cat. Firstly, she began volunteering in the cattery where she would look after the cats and kittens, and now altogether Edith and her family have even fostered between 70 and 80 cats and kittens themselves!
Edith’s role at Woodside is now a Volunteer Cat Fostering Co-ordinator where she helps cats to find a safe and loving home, she said the best thing about her role is: “working with both animals and people, and making a difference in a challenging but friendly environment.”
Since volunteering at Woodside, Edith has taken a shine to many of the animals and is a huge cat lover herself! She has 11 cats at home, ten of which are from the RSPCA, whilst also feeding an abandoned cat in her village.
Edith said the thing she loves most about working at Woodside is when “people say thank you, when you know you’ve lowered the distress of an animal or a person who is desperate.”
Seeing as Edith is an amazing volunteer at Woodside, she has been treated to a lovely hair cut at Barrie Stephen’s in Anstey, which she is very much looking forward to and thinks it “will be a nice treat”!
